3rd Grade Mystery Readers Share Their Knowledge with Second Graders

Mrs. Rutigliano's third grade class recently completed their mystery unit in Reading Workshop.  They studied how mysteries tend to go and how reading mystery books are different than reading other fiction books. The students created book marks with mystery vocabulary words and information about how to read mystery books. They shared what they learned which included clues, detectives, crime solvers, keeping track of the mystery in their notebooks, predicting, motives and how to read mysteries with their partners.  They also shared that expert mystery readers are ALWAYS on the lookout for what mystery writers refer to as the "red herrings."  Their enthusiasm through this unit was contagious!
