DECA Competes in International Competition and returns with one first place finish, 4 top 10 finishes, and 6 finalists
Over 22,000 students competed at the DECA International Career Conference competition in finance, hospitality, and business management events. Syosset High School sent 34 students to compete and returned with one first place finish, 4 top 10 finishes, and 6 finalists.
Syosset High School sophomore Jake Greenberg finished first in the Principles of Business Management and Administration event. Out of the 559 competitors from New York, he was the only one to place within the top 3. Aayush Turakhia, Sayan Varma, Vikram Anand, and Jesse Levitan placed in the top 10. The finalists include Josh Baby, Seth Marcus, Maiya Raghu, Emma Goetz, and Azam Lalani, with Ronit Dhulia also receiving a silver medal in semi-finals. Members who were not competing participated in DECA’s emerging leader series.
Students prepared for the competition during weekly meetings with the help of a dedicated officer team, chaperones, and advisor, Mr. Glen Bauman. While in Florida, the team attended opening and closing ceremonies, as well as two awards sessions at the convention center. The team also visited the Universal Orlando and Disney theme parks. Congratulations to the Syosset DECA chapter on their success!
