On February 5th, 2020, Walt Whitman Elementary School participated for the first time in Global School Play Day 2020 (GSPD.) On this special day, students engaged in play that did not involve the use of any electronic devices. They engaged in unstructured play with classmates and other students in their grade. GSPD has been promoted by “Psychology Today” and is being celebrated at schools around the world. You can learn more about the benefits of unstructured play by visiting the official GSPD website: www.globalschoolplayday.com . Global School Play Day serves to foster the very skills our youth struggles to engage in organically. Such skills include communication, strategic thinking, conflict-resolution, commitment and compromise.
