As part of the kindergarten science curriculum, kindergarteners met in the Enrichment Center to build structures that would shield ninja turtles from direct sunlight. In this scenario, the ninja turtles were the lifeguards for the baby ducklings. However, they were going to need shelter from the harsh sun if they were not going to become too sunburned.
The children were given a chance to plan their structures using materials such as popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, feathers and empty paper towel rolls. With a partner, they then engineered their designs. Each design was unique and innovative. As you can see, the result had the designers feeling proud, the lifeguards sheltered and all of the baby ducklings remained safe and sound under the protection of the grateful Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
