SHS Student Sabrina Guo Awarded Gold Keys in Scholastic Art & Writing Competition

Syosset High School student Sabrina Guo received two Gold Key awards in the 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Regional Competition. Gold and Silver Key awards are presented to the best works submitted across 29 categories of art and writing by students in grades 7-12. Guo won Gold Keys for her poem “Repertoire: White Dog” and her critical essay “The Case for Early Integration of Teen Relationship Discussions into Health Class Curriculum.” She also won five Silver Keys and eight Honorable Mentions for additional submissions across the categories of Poetry, Critical Essay, Personal Essay & Memoir, and Science Fiction & Fantasy.

Gold Key pieces are automatically considered for National-level recognition where they are judged nationally by a panel of creative-industry experts. In 2018, Guo won a National Gold medal for a poetry collection. 2020 National Gold Medal and Silver Medal Award winners will be announced in March.
