Third grade map skills were given the “Groverfication” treatment! In an effort to develop students’ spatial reasoning aptitude, especially as it pertained to their map skills, our Physical Education teachers developed an active and interactive geography review session. They created a gym-sized representation of the world, using mats to represent the continents and the gym floor to represent the oceans. Teams of third grade students had to collect objects from the continents and oceans in the correct order. Part scavenger hunt and part relay race, this map skills review was ALL fun!
