South Grove celebrated Thanksgiving with a special program for our local heroes. Our guests included members of our Fire Department, Police Department, VFW, American Legion, School Board, Central Administration and the Security Department. Guests were honored through grade level presentations, which took place is our colorfully decorated gymnasium. The principal, Ms. An, and the Student Council Color Guard kicked off the celebration with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the singing of the South Grove School Song by a group of 3rd – 5th grade students. Our guests were then entertained by third graders doing an adorable “Turkey Tango” followed by second graders singing a turkey song. After a brief intermission where our guests enjoyed an assortment of festive refreshments provided by our P.T.A., fifth grade students entertained the guests with a short Square Dancing routine. Next, several fourth grade representatives thanked each guest and gave them hand-decorated cards. The finale was a Thanksgiving medley by our youngest students. Our kindergarten and first grade students delighted everyone with a few songs, including a, American Sign Language rendition of “What A Wonderful World.” For many the highlight may have been the students singing and dancing the “Turkey Twist.” This warm and entertaining celebration was an opportunity for the entire South Grove School to show our gratitude for the local heroes who serve our school, town and country.
