Pennies for Patients Campaign

Pennies for Patients Campaign

How valuable are pennies?  Can you really do anything with a penny?  Well, if you get an entire elementary school together you can raise $4,500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!  That is what the Robbins Lane students accomplished when the Student Council sponsored the “Pennies for Patients” campaign this year.  Last year they raised over $3,000 and they were thrilled to surpass that this year.

All the students at Robbins Lane had lots of fun during this fundraiser.  Students were invited to wear pajamas and bring in pennies, denim and bring in dimes, and crazy socks and bring in quarters. They brought what they could find under the couch cushions, on the floor in mom and dad’s cars and from the change they got when they bought something.  The last week of the campaign students were asked to donate dollars and wear their favorite team jersey because we need to be a great team to accomplish great things. Finally, students could pay a dollar to vote for their favorite song to be played during their “Pump It Up!” session the first week of April. The winning song was "High Hopes" by Panic at the Disco.

All the money was donated to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  This money is used to further research for cures, as well as provide comfort to the children that are being treated.

The Robbins Lane Student Council would like to thank each and every member of the Robbins Lane Elementary School and community for making this event so much fun and so successful!
