Syosset Council of PTAs
The Syosset Council of PTAs was organized in 1954 and includes representatives from all 11 PTA/PTSA units in the Syosset Central School District. Its purpose is to strengthen and coordinate the activities of its member units, to promote cooperation and communication on community-wide projects, programs and activities that fall within the scope of PTA objectives and purposes. The Syosset Council of PTAs forms a part of the Nassau Region and the New York State PTA, a branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers.
The Council’s voting body consists of the officers of the council, chairpersons of council standing committees, executive board, the president/alternate of each member unit, and accredited delegates. Only members of a local PTA in council membership shall be eligible to participate in the meetings of the Council or to serve in any of its elective or appointive positions.
The Syosset Council of PTAs has several committees that encompass a wide range of topics and include: Annual District Election & Budget, Bylaws, Communication Conference, Cultural Unity, Curriculum Enrichment, Health, Nutrition & Safety, Legislation, Parent Resource Group, Reflections, Scholarship Mailing, School & Community, Technology Support and Ways & Means. Each committee is composed of representatives from every Syosset PTA unit.
