Propel NY Energy Project Update

Propel NY Energy is a significant electric transmission initiative jointly led by the New York Power Authority and New York Transco. This project focuses on expanding and upgrading New York State’s electric grid across Long Island, New York City, and Westchester County to effectively deliver offshore wind energy to our region.

Given that the proposed underground transmission cables are routed through local roadways near our schools, the Syosset Central School District is diligently monitoring the project. Our primary focus remains on evaluating potential impacts on student safety, school facilities, and local transportation. To best advocate for our school community, the District has secured official party status in the regulatory proceedings.
