Absentee Voting Information
Qualifications for Absentee Voting
If you cannot get to the polls on budget and trustee vote day, you may still vote by using an absentee ballot. However, you must meet the following qualifications to vote via absentee ballot:
- Absent from Nassau County due to employment or business reasons, duties, studies, or vacation on the date of the vote. OR
- Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability. OR
- Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or awaiting trial or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.
Instructions for Voting by Absentee Ballot
1. Obtain an Absentee Ballot Application

- Call the Office of the District Clerk at 516-364-5758 to request an Absentee Ballot Application. OR
- Mail a request for an Absentee Ballot Application to the Office of the District Clerk, South Woods Middle School, 99 Pell Lane, Syosset, NY 11791. (The completed application must be received no later than seven days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed.)
- If you are permanently ill or disabled, you have the right to receive an Absentee Ballot for each subsequent election without further application. Simply fill out an application and send it to the Nassau County Board of Elections. Please note that a power of attorney or printed name stamp is not allowed for any voting purpose.

2. Return the Completed Application
- Return your completed Syosset Central School District Absentee Ballot Application to the Office of the District Clerk, South Woods Middle School, 99 Pell Lane, Syosset, NY 11791. After review of your application and once the ballots are ready, your absentee ballot will be available.
- If you wish your Absentee Ballot to be mailed to you, the application must be received at least seven days before the election and the Absentee Ballot will be mailed to you at least six days before the election. OR
- If you or your agent wish to pick up the Absentee Ballot in person, the application must be received no later than the day before the election. You may pick it up from South Woods Middle School, 99 Pell Lane, Syosset, NY 11791.
- Note: An Absentee Ballot can only be delivered to the individual applying for the Absentee Ballot or his/her designated agent.
3. To actually VOTE
- Place the completed ballot in the official ballot envelope.
- Sign and Date the back of the official ballot envelope that the ballot was placed in.
- Seal the official ballot envelope.
- Insert the sealed and completed official ballot envelope in the envelope addressed to the District Clerk, Syosset Central School District, which is provided.
This envelope may be hand-delivered or postage may be affixed to the envelope and mailed to the District Clerk, Syosset Central School District, South Woods Middle School, 99 Pell Lane, Syosset, NY.
In accordance with the law, the office of the District Clerk must receive the absentee ballot no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 1, 2024.

- O bien, llame a la oficina de la secretaría del distrito al 516-364-5607 para pedir una solicitud de una boleta electoral por ausencia. O
- Envíe por correo postal un pedido de solicitud de una boleta electoral por ausencia a la oficina de la secretaría del distrito en South Woods Middle School, 99 Pell Lane, Syosset, NY 11791. (La solicitud completada se debe recibir antes del séptimo día previo a la elección si la boleta electoral se enviará por correo postal).
- Si tiene una enfermedad o discapacidad permanente, tiene el derecho de recibir una boleta electoral por ausencia para cada elección posterior sin más solicitud. Simplemente complete una solicitud y envíela a la Junta Electoral del condado de Nassau. 2. Envíe de vuelta la solicitud completada.
- Envíe de vuelta la solicitud completada de una boleta electoral por ausencia del Distrito Escolar Central de Syosset a la oficina de la secretaría del distrito en South Woods Middle School, 99 Pell Lane, Syosset, NY 11791. Después de revisar su solicitud y una vez que las boletas electorales estén listas, su boleta electoral por ausencia estará disponible.
- Si desea que le envíen por correo postal la boleta electoral por ausencia, la solicitud se debe recibir por lo menos siete días antes de la elección y se le enviará la boleta electoral por ausencia por correo postal al menos seis días antes de la elección. O

Nota: Una boleta electoral por ausencia solo se puede entregar a la persona que la solicita o a su representante designado.
3. Para VOTAR efectivamente realice los siguientes pasos:
- Coloque la boleta electoral completada en el sobre oficial de dicha boleta.
- Firme y escriba la fecha en la parte posterior del sobre oficial de la boleta electoral en el que colocó dicha boleta.
- Selle el sobre oficial de la boleta electoral.
- Inserte el sobre oficial de la boleta electoral sellado y completado en el sobre que se proporciona, dirigido a la secretaría del distrito, Distrito Escolar Central de Syosset.
El sobre se puede entregar en persona, o se le puede colocar estampillas y enviarlo por correo postal a la secretaría del distrito, Distrito Escolar Central de Syosset, en South Woods Middle School, 99 Pell Lane, Syosset, NY.
De acuerdo con la ley, la oficina de la secretaría del distrito debe recibir la boleta electoral por ausencia antes de las 5:00 p. m. del 1 de octubre de 2024.
