This project-based course provides students with opportunities to work on individual and small group video projects at the mastery level with professional equipment and software. Students will learn advanced principles and practices of digital filmmaking through workshop methods and mentorship. Students focus on applying techniques for visual storytelling to compose original work of their own. Practice in writing, storyboarding, camera use, and video editing will be used extensively during the preproduction, production, and post production process. Students will be expected to use time outside of the school day in order to complete projects. This course may also be used to create a portfolio including screenplays, production journals, film analysis, and short films to showcase original work for college, film school or specialty school admissions.
