2021 - 2022 Budget Information
Thank you to all of the residents who participated in the 2021-22 school district budget vote and trustee election. Voters approved the proposed budget 2,017 to 973. With this support, the District will continue to provide an exceptional academic and co-curricular program, maintain a safe and healthy learning environment and support student social/emotional health, while also addressing areas of our school infrastructure.
Additionally, Proposition 2 that authorizes the conveyance of a portion of the Stillwell Woods Preserve by Nassau County to the Syosset Central School District was approved, 1,488 to 1,475. Proposition 3 that authorizes the investment in the property of a maximum of $10,500,000, with $3,000,000 to come from County funds, $2,000,000 to come from reserves, and the remaining $5,500,000 to come from bonds was defeated 1,437 to 1,526. For the project to move forward, both Propositions needed to pass, therefore the conveyance of the Stillwell Fields property will not take place.
In the Board of Education election, six candidates ran for three seats in an at-large election. Shany Park, Brian J. Grieco, and Lisa Coscia were elected.
The final vote totals are as follows (listed by ballot position): Brian J. Grieco –1,664, Shany Park – 1,704, Dr. Rob Sharma – 899, Mitchell Lieberman – 910, Lisa Coscia – 1,391, and Lynn Abramson - 957.
Again, thank you to all who voted and for your ongoing commitment to Syosset schools.
