Fifth grade students were treated to a special production of “Mystery on 13th Street” by the Syosset High School College Theatre and Production students. The play, a mystery with quirky characters and amusing plot twists, conveys the message to accept those with differences. The fifth graders were captivated by the talented cast and excited by the opportunity to ask questions of the actors at the end of the performance.

The College Theatre and Production course offered at Syosset High School is the outcome of a partnership between Syosset Central School District and the Department of Theatre at Five Towns College. High school students earn college credits by completing the course, which focuses on theatre history in the first semester and the creation of a “touring company” in the second, allowing the students to create and produce a theatrical piece. Over the last several years, productions by the students have included puppet theatre, original works performed for the general public, and children's theatre.
