Three teams from South Woods Middle School recently won a total of 87 medals at the regional leg of the Science Olympiad. While two of the three qualified for the New York State Science Olympiad, Team 1 will advance by virtue of it’s second-place finish, as rules allow only one team per school.
Team 2 finished in fourth place while Team 3 scored 15th out of 40 teams competing in regional competition. In the 23 events and three trial events held at regionals, Team 1 took home a total of 46 medals, Team 2 won 28 medals and Team 3 claimed 13 medals.
Team 1 finished with an exceptional score, just eight points from first place. Kudos to members Kyle Cheng, Aaron Chuang, Siddharth Desai, Edward Duan, Evelyn Feusi, Elena Hong, Eric Huang, Ashley Jung, Michael Lan, David Liu, Andor Szekeres, Alex Wang, Zach Yasinov, Wesley Zhou and Andrew Zhou, who will represent South Woods at the NYS Science Olympiad at Minoa High School in East Syracuse in April.

Congratulations to Coach Linda Stollow and all of her teams for their wonderful showing. Good luck Team 1!
