Once again, a student chamber ensemble from Syosset High School has been selected to participate in the Young Musicians Long Island Regional Concert, sponsored by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. These students will be coached by a member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and will perform at the Hillwood Auditorium at the LIU Post Tilles Center on Feb. 7.

The Syosset ensemble is one of only eight groups from Long Island chosen for this concert. They will perform “Piano Quintent in E-flat Major, Op. 44; Allegro ma non troppo” by Robert Schumann. The group is comprised of Caroline Lee (viola), Caroline Ruggiero (violin II), Elizabeth Ruggiero (violin I), Kevin Xu (cello) and Siyu Yang (piano). Top ensembles from the L.I. Regional concert will be invited to perform at Lincoln Center at a later date.

Syosset High School orchestra director Stephanie Merten and Coordinator for Fine and Performing Arts Michael Salzman are pictured congratulating (from left) Elizabeth, Caroline Ruggiero, Siyu, Kevin and Caroline Lee.
