Updated 12:10 pm - Important Message from Superintendent of Schools

At approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning a fence installer struck a gas line on the campus of Robbins Lane Elementary School. Students are being evacuated to the High School as a precaution. More details will follow.

Update at 10:50 a.m.
All students and staff have been safely evacuated.  Students will not return to Robbins Lane Elementary School today, but will instead be dismissed from Syosset High School at the usual dismissal time of 3:15 p.m. We are making arrangements for lunch for the students. Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled for this afternoon will be rescheduled for a later date.

Update on Dismissal Procedures for Robbins Lane Students
Parents wishing to pick their child up during the day today, should call the high school at (516) 364-5675 to inform them of their intention. No students will be dismissed between 2:00 – 3:00pm.

If you have designated your child as a walker for today, you will need to come to the high school to pick up your child at the regular dismissal time of 3:15pm.

There will be further updates about SCOPE and after-school activities.

Update at 11:30 a.m.
National Grid is on site. The leak is no longer active and they are working on permanent repairs. More updates as information becomes available.

Update Regarding SCOPE at Robbins Lane - 11:45 a.m.
The Robbins Lane students who attend SCOPE will be bused to Berry Hill Elementary School (181 Cold Spring Road, Syosset) and the program will run as normal at Berry Hill. Parents should pick their child up from Berry Hill at the normal time, sometime before 6:30pm.

Additional Information about Robbins Lane Dismissal -12:10 p.m. Update

To facilitate dismissal, District staff are retrieving students’ coats from Robbins Lane Elementary School so the students will have them available at the high school when they ride the bus home this afternoon. If you choose to pick up your child prior to that time, please arrange to bring a coat as we cannot guarantee your child’s coat will be at the high school before 3:00pm.

Robbins Lane to Open Normally on Friday, Dec. 1
The gas line on the Robbins Lane campus has been repaired and is in good working order. All the systems in the school building are working properly. School will take place as normal in the building tomorrow, Friday, December 1.
