Festive Artists

Since 2001, students from Syosset High School’s National Art Honor Society have participated in United Cerebral Palsy’s Festival of Trees fundraiser. Each year as the holiday season commences, NAHS students visit the Cradle of Aviation Museum, where they use their artistic skills and vision to decorate a special holiday tree for the festival. UCP raises money from admission fees to the exhibition and through the sale of decorated trees, which are sold to businesses around Long Island for display in their lobbies, windows, etc. The NAHS tree sold for $450 and the amount will be donated to helping people with cerebral palsy.

According to NAHS adviser Demi Protonentis, for their first year participating in the Festival of Trees, NAHS members designed a tree in tribute to the police officers and firemen who lost their lives on 9/11.
