850 Pounds of Food to Fight Hunger

Throughout the month of November, the students and staff of South Woods Middle School participated in the school’s annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit Mercy First.

Mercy First is a local organization that inspires hope and promotes healing for children and families by providing quality human services and educational opportunities while also advocating for social change. The food drive was organized by the school’s respective student council organizations representing every grade level, in conjunction with the school’s Triple A Club.  Students in each homeroom class were asked to contribute a portion of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, such as stuffing, canned vegetables, or gravy.

After packing and weighing the donations, they determined that the South Woods community donated 850 pounds of food to help make a difference in the lives of others. Great job!
