Students at Harry B. Thompson Middle School are honing their math and science skills, and having some fun along the way. Students in Jennifer Mulligan’s science classes built tetrahedron kites as part of their study of density. They calculated the volume of their tetrahedrons for mathematical purposes before sending their kites into the sky as an introduction to the principles of flight.

“The kites came out great, and the kids had so much fun flying them,” said Mulligan, who provided copies of the tetrahedron instruction books to students, since several of them indicated they wanted to rebuild their kites at home.
