A Sweet Gesture

Continuing with tradition, Village Elementary School conducted its annual Operation Sweet Tooth activity, in which students brought in leftover, unopened Halloween candy to donate to numerous charitable organizations. Third- and fourth-grade students and volunteer parents sorted and packaged candy to redistribute to organizations such as Angela’s House, AHRC, Jacob’s Light Foundation for Troops, Mercy First, the Ronald McDonald House and the Smiles for Scott Foundation. The tradition was started several years ago by parent Mary Majoy and Principal Jeffrey Kasper.

Teachers also incorporated math activities such as counting, grouping and graphing into the effort. Students in Wendy Tepper’s third-grade class are pictured here.
