Summer Is Sizzlin’ in Syosset

Students in Cathy Flanagan’s Kids in the Kitchen class have been cooking up a storm in the family and consumer science classroom at H.B. Thompson.

One of the more popular elective courses held during the school’s summer program, Kids in the Kitchen teaches students from various grade levels how to work the ovens, follow recipes and work together to create fun, sizzling dishes.

In August, the students worked as teams to make pizza and garlic knots. They mixed, rolled and flattened the dough from scratch before cooking it in time for lunch.

Approximately 20 students are enrolled in the three-period course.
